The Artemina Project started years ago. In our minds. And there it was for a loooong time.
We’re actually two people with different musical backgrounds, and one way or another we’ve been writing songs on our own for years.
Arte has been playing guitar for more than a decade: then one day the realization that his real calling was composition slapped him right in the face. And so he started to compose, but his lyrics and subjects were very questionable. Some of his favourite artists: Mozart, Rory Gallagher, Harry Gregson-Williams, Led Zeppelin, Dream Theater.
Mina was and is always writing lyrics on scraps of paper and who knows what, slowly trying to piece together patterns, emotions and rhythm. After a few years of piano and vocal lessons, she realized her sense of harmony sucked and someone had to intervene. Some of her favourite artists: Chopin,Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Nightwish, Fiona Apple.
Then the day came. We realized our efforts could be joined, something could be born out of all our cheese and angst: and that was the birth of the Artemina Project. We’ve just started writing new songs together and giving a new perspective to each other’s old songs.
We’ve held on to this idea for years now, and we believe the time has come to bring the project to light. Given the state of the music business and the fact that we both have day jobs, we’ve decided to share everything for free on a website of our own, hoping our music will be enjoyed by someone other than ourselves.
We’d like people to guess it, even if we’re sure we’ll screw up and make it obvious soon enough.
